Project Description
For my third project this semester our project was to design a car powered by an alternate source. I worked with Ciara Samuel, Julia Corbani, and Colin McCloskey. When we started to think of ideas our first idea was to blow up a balloon and install it on the bottom of the car. Then we thought of a hydro-powered car which would consist of a water wheel turning the back wheel axle while water hits the peddles. After trying to construct the "water car" we decided that we were going to go back to the balloon idea. After three attempts we thought of another idea; to attach rubber bands together and attach them to the axle of the back wheels. We made a rough draft of the car and then perfected it with a final product which is pictured in the file above.
Concepts
Elastic Collision- An elastic collision is an encounter between two bodies in which the total kinetic energy of the two bodies after the encounter is equal to their total kinetic energy before the encounter.
Velocity- The speed of something in a given direction.
Kinetic, Potential, and Thermal Energy- Potential Energy is any type of stored energy; it isn’t shown through movement. Potential energy can be chemical, nuclear, gravitational, or mechanical.
Kinetic Energy is the energy of movements: the motion of objects (from people to planets), the vibrations of atoms by sound waves or in thermal energy (heat), the electromagnetic energy of the movements of light waves, and the motion of electrons in electricity.

Reflection
This project was good because I got a lot of practice in trial and error. We could have not wasted so many materials on all the different cars we made. We also could have just kept working on one car. But, I did get a lot of experience with trial and error. Also I got to pron=blem solve with my group everytime an idea failed
